Got two cans of a very dark gray semi-solid wood stain but when applied to yellow pine boards it is too dark. What do you suggest?

I was looking for a weathered look, gray or really a bark color that would blend right into the trees. Could I combine a color to get a bark color like a taupe that has some
tan in it? Please help. It looks like I really wanted a light tan gray color. Could I add a color to achieve this?

Cabot does have a weathered gray stain. I think it would be better to just buy the right color. Mixing these two cans might or might not give you the color your after. Plus, if you need more you will have two buy the original mixed stains and you still might not get an exact match.

I think it is best to just buy and use the correct color and save these stains for another project. Also, test the color on a sample pine board before committing to the project.
