My bathroom vanity cabinet is honey oak, feeling very dated. Can I stain them a darker colour to try to update them without having to replace them?

Sand cabinets with medium grit sandpaper, use sponge sandpaper for moldings and overall sanding. Clean cabinets with a tack rag to remove any dust particles. Apply liquid sandpaper with a soft cloth, let dry. Purchase a gel-stain with a color of your choice. Best way to see application of gel-stain is to view it on youtube.
