I got in a hurry trying to finish our basement. We have drywall painted, then we have one wall that is a wide planked pine with a stone fireplace. I didn’t condition the wood first (I read that part after I stained and didn’t like the result…) and even though I did a sample board, I really think this color is darker than I really want. Is there anything I can do it lighten it up and fix the uneven look without removing stain/sanding the whole wall?

You will need to sand the wall down and start over. Sorry!
