Front Door Color Help Needed

Jamie asked 10 years ago

Red brick with some black. The roof is black and the trim and windows are natural which is beige. What color front door would you suggest? I am painting the shutters black. The back door is going to be painted a little darker than the beige.

Your color scheme sounds traditional and pleasing, so you may want to stay with a traditional color. With your red brick and black shutters, you can use black for your front door as well. Select a high gloss finish. If you want to go with something creating a greater contrast, a deep red with tones of black is also traditional and welcoming as well. Avoid any red with overly orange or blue tones, as that might clash with your brick. The red should be very deep in tone. Another classic option is a deep green front door. Any of these choices would look great with a brass door knocker. Fortunately, doors require only a quart of paint, so give one a try, and you can always change it to another option without great expense or effort.

I would want to paint the front door the same color as the back door, which is the darker beige you choose, but only because I like that sort of thing.
