Painting in an old house.

Mirial Burton asked 10 years ago

We are painting an upstairs room in a home where the foundations were repaired, but the floors still sloped. We leveled the floors upstairs, but in the large area where we are putting a study, the floor had to be raised 4 inches on one end, so that there is a gradual decrease in the height of the ceiling. Can we make this less obvious by the way we paint it?

You could try painting the entire room one light color; walls, ceiling and trim. The biggest problem is the baseboards and ceiling. They will act as straight lines showing the angle. As a solid color this might be less noticeable. If the angle applies only to the ceiling then paint the trim as normal.
