I want to paint my kitchen table and chairs. The table is an old one with what looks like plastic laminate on it. How would I paint that and with what type of paint? The chairs are wood, would I just use any wood paint. Thanks for the help.

As for the chairs, a good quality oil based finish will last the longest. If you can find a floor enamel in the color of your choice it will probably be the most durable.
As for the laminate, several primers will claim to adhere to this type surface. Some will adhere, others will not. Trouble is, most any finish with which I am familiar will not withstand the punishment dished out to a table top.
Probably not what you wanted to hear (or read), but I would be hesitant to paint the laminate.
