Priming and Painting

Anonymous asked 10 years ago

Primed some interior walls but haven’t had a chance to paint them. Is there a time period the primed walls must be painted? Someone told me one must paint primed walls within one week of priming them.

Not wise to wait more than 10 days… primer will start failing do to climate conditions rapidly without a top coat…

Depends on the primer used. A good PVA wallboard primer can be top coated whenever you get to it. Good acrylic or oil based primers tend to harden over time making adhesion difficult if you wait too long. Generally it is best to just prime and paint without waiting too long.
