Removing Mold from Elastomeric Paint on Stucco

Our house has a stucco exterior with an elastomeric paint finish that contains mildewcide. After about 10 years, we noticed 2 areas that have green mold growing on them. If I use a bleach and water solution to remove the mold, will I also remove the paint? Is there any way to touch it up after cleaning?

Use a good house wash solution or weak TSP solution. This would be better than bleach. Bleach and water could lighten or oxidize the paint.

Thank you, I will try this. Do I need to be gentle on the paint, or can I use a stiff bristle brush?

Also, the stained areas are, of course, right above my cherry laurel and azalea bushes. Do I need to take any special precautions to protect my garden? Or to clean up any spilled cleaner when I'm done?

You can use a stiff nylon scrub brush to help remove the stains. Don't rub too hard as this could do some damage.

To protect your garden pre-wet your bushes and garden. You could cover somethings with some plastic, this would help. After applying the cleanser and rinsing also rinse the bushes and ground to help dilute any cleanser that might have spilled.

Thank you. Now if the heat would only go below the low 90s, I can get out there and scrub!
