Solid color deck stain.

We have an old deck, we had to add some new wood to it. The old deck had several coats of CWF about 2 years ago. I want to do a solid color stain to make it one color. Should I use oil base or water base. I have been told 2 different things now I don’t know which way to go! The deck is also under roof. Please help!

I have stained a few hundred decks in my 40 years and the alkyd based deck stains have held up better every time. Pittsburg Paints makes what my experience shows is the best for our area.
