Staining Laminate Cupboards

Janet asked 10 years ago

My cupboards are in a mobile home made from pressed board with worn out and peeling laminate. I read the Q&A about repairing the peeling laminate, “removed through hand scraping, a little sanding to knock down the edges, primer to seal the areas needing the repair and using either spackling paste or Bondo to build up the areas level with the surrounding undamaged areas”, but want to know if they can be stained once repaired, using regular stain and top-coat, or all-in-one stain and top-coat? If not, is there another way to give them the original stained look?

The only way to simulate a wood stained appearance is to use wood graining techniques. Using these techniques will take some practice but it is doable.
