I recently purchased a used coffee table for a very good price. On one side near the bottom the color has worn off from people putting their feet on the table. I plan to use Formby’s Refinisher and would like to know if I can stain the entire table afterwards.
If you want to restain your table it is best to do it now, before using any refinishing product. If you use the refinisher you will need to sand and possibly strip to reopen the wood pores to accept the stain. Try a little matching stain now and see if it is absorbed into the worn areas. If it is then you can apply coat of varnish to protect your table.
* Make sure to properly prepare the table for the restaining and varnish coat. Typically a good cleaning and light sanding is enough but more might be required.
