Wall painting

Phil asked 10 years ago

I want to repaint an interior wall previously used as an artist’s easel to paint a mural. The kind of paint used is unknown. The wall is not entirely smooth with brush strokes visible and uneven paint thickness. How can I repaint this wall?

First, block sand it using coarse grade paper… then if there are any "rough" spots left, spackle them smooth… now stain seal all the wall using a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer… finally top coat with an acrylic high grade brand paint… flat is best, to hide any reflections of imperfections on the surface… Good Luck!
