When I bought my century old home, it had been completely repainted. Soon, after I noticed that the slightest bump or rub with furniture took the new paint right off. I’ve been in denial for years now. We’ve just been very careful not to “disturb” the paint. I now want to repaint and I don’t know what to do. This problem is in just about every room in the house. I would like to do this properly. Can anyone tell me what to do?

I will be happy to tell you what you already know you need to do. Somehow, you are going to need to remove the offending coat(s) of paint.

Several options are available, I strongly urge you to visit your local paint dealer for his advice as to a professional for this project. You won't be sorry for allowing someone to help you.
