Old Desk

Libby Hurley asked 10 years ago

I purchased an old desk that was stained and varnished. I wanted to paint it white then give it a Shabby Chic appearance. I followed all instructions on stripping, sanding and painting the desk. I read several articles that indicated that you can prime and paint the entire drawer. That was questionable to me so after sanding I only primed the facings for the drawers. Oops, now I can not get a couple of them to go in their slots. I’m not talking a little defiant here. I have already put a ton of work into this piece and feel frustrated at this point. Sorry I have no images to share.

It is possible the drawer slides, strip of wood the drawer slides on, needs some wax. You can also wax the underside of the drawer, where it slides. Give this a try.
