Real Wood on Walls and Ceiling

Hello,
I have an attic in my newly bought house that has real wood everywhere on the walls and the ceiling. My budget it tight so I thought the cheapest way to make it brighter is to paint it. What would you suggest I paint it with, the steps and the type of paint I use?

You could keep it Natural and just give it a coat of Varnish… or if you want to Paint it, you need to Prime it first, using an Oil Base Primer, then finish coat with Paint… use Sherwin Williams Classic-99… use a flat finish… Good Luck! see my site for help http://www.davmagic.com/paint/PAGES1.html
