Can I use acrylic paint over very old walls that have been white washed many times?

Yes… probably 2 coats… or 1 heavy coat… but use a High Quality Paint… it might be best to try a small area… if it works… OK… otherwise then give it a coat of dry wall latex primer… first, then topcoat…
