Clumping primer.

The primer is not going on the wall smoothly. What do I need to do to get it to stop clumping?

Sounds like it is drying fast and you are unable to apply the primer fast enough. You could add some solvent to slow down its drying time, water for acrylic and mineral spirits for oil base primers.
