How to paint gavanized metal bracket on already on painted wood post?

Recently enclosed patio. Three large wooden posts support the roof. The posts have been painted already with waterbased paint. I want to paint the galvanized brackets. Spraying is out because of proximity of painted support posts. How to paint the galvanized metal?

Use 1 inch masking tape to mask off the wood around the brackets… prime them with an Oil Base Primer… then finish coat with Paint… then remove the tape… Good Luck! (use a Brush to apply the primer & paint)

You could always mask off the posts and ceiling with newspaper or masking paper then use spray cans of primer and paint. If not then Dave's way is the only way.
