Painting Brick

Tory Dzuricsko asked 10 years ago

Do you have any tips or information on painting the brick on a house? I have a house that has orange brick and I was trying to figure out the best way to paint it a light gray to match my trim and siding. Is it recommended to paint brick, or am I making a mistake? If it can be painted, is it better to use a brush, roller, or spray application?

* Brick is paintable but once painted it will always need repainting as part of your home's regular maintenance.

* I would spray the primer and paint; use a brush to push both into all areas (cracks and pin holes), this is called back brushing. You can just brush and roll brick but it will take longer and more time.
