Hi, I have a brick fireplace, which I’d like to update. It’s Spanish style, which we’ve chipped away all the excess cement. It’s still not completely smooth, but has a flattish surface. Can it be painted? or would it look ugly?

Yes it can be painted… prime it with a latex masonry primer… finish coat with a latex semi gloss… use a high quality paint like Sherwin Williams Classic-99 Latex…
