How does one neatly paint and cut into popcorn ceilings without having paint go into the ceiling finish?

What do you mean "Ceiling Finish"? The finish IS the popcorn finish… use a brush and CAREFULLY (so you don't remove the flocking too much) cut it in.. same with rolling… load a 3/4in skin with plenty of paint… then roll CAREFULLY…
It's recommended that Spraying, using an airless cup gun be used instead of rolling…plenty of masking walls is required for Spraying…
