Stain a painted deck?

Anonymous asked 10 years ago

My painted deck is peeling badly. How can it be refinished? It was painted with SW Amourseal-acrylic. Only the floor is painted. The deck is made of CVC pressure treated lumber. The side rails are stained with solid color stain. I would prefer to have the floor a solid stain but would consider other options if maintenance was easier.

You will have to sand off the paint in order to use a stain. This will be a lot of work but I think using a deck stain is easier maintenance, just a quick washing with (maybe) some light sanding and restaining.
