It's really up to you… depending on what type of work you do, ie any real high work or swinging from a boson's chair? Or just simple repainting homes, or 1 story buildings? Sometimes home owner's insurance will cover you… it's best to take out simply liability insurance… and if you have helpers or extra men… it gets more complicated…
Best thing is to learn how to work SAFELY!!!

General Liability is the least insurance, employees will require workman's comp. Check with your state gov for specific requirements for your area.
