Can I use acrylic latex over elastomeric?

share

My strata building was painted about 14 yrs. ago with elastomeric over stucco. It has stood up well, still in excellent shape but we want to freshen it up. We have been advised to use a top coat of acrylic latex. Is this good advice?

  1. With the passage of time, paint films will wear considerably. 14 years should be sufficient time for the elastomeric film to erode and allow the acrylic paint to properly adhere. A satin or semi-gloss acrylic will have the best adhesion properties.
