Doors and trim.

Lisa Rawlings asked 10 years ago

I have a room that I just painted Apricot and my trim is Swiss Coffee. Should I paint the door of the room and the closet door the color of the trim or the wall?

Well, to be honest with you, the door of the room and closet door should be a completely different color. If you can, leave them an ivory white or a cream. If you paint them either apricot or swiss coffee, the attention of the room will be diverted to the closets and doors and not the paint of the room itself. It will make a strange combination. So leave them a neutral color for maximum benefit.

You should definitely paint the door swiss coffee to match the trim. However, I'd hesitate before doing the closet door the same color too, there's a danger of the trim dominating the room instead of providing highlights. In a larger room I'd use swiss coffee again, in a smaller room I'd be more likely to use the wall color.
