House was originally stained last two times it was painted. Didn’t hold paint, we forgot it was originally stained. What do we do now?

Cedar siding? Unfortunately you may have no alternative but to strip it if its not holding the paint. If you are going to paint it needs to be primed first with a quality oil based primer.
