Oil vs Water Finish on Oil Gel Stain

I have just stained my fiberglass door- so far so good. But I have read it may be best to finish it with water based finish so as no to remove any stain. Is this OK??

I used Old Masters gel stain and now need to buy the finish.

Help please.

Either-or will work. I like the water borne finishes as they dry fast and do a good job. Once the stain is dry it won't be harmed by the finish. It takes a very hot finish do do anything to Old Masters gel stain.
