How do you fill staple holes and joint lines between sheets of smooth surface fiber board on underside of newly built patio cover so it can be painted?

Spackle… applied properly… with little or no sanding afterward, depending on how well you can apply it… I have a Spackling Tutorial on my site… here: //davmagic.com/paint/PAGES9.html
