Painting a Doorway

Jim asked 10 years ago

How do I paint a doorway that has wood stained trim on the outside and on the inside I am painting the trim- which was stained. How do I separate the stained from the painted?

You will need to have a good stopping point. Door frames have a surface that acts as a stop when the door is closed. This is a perfect place to stop the paint. If this won't work choose the nearest straight line or piece of trim that you can paint too.
