Painting over elastomeric.

Anonymous asked 10 years ago

I want to use elastomeric to re-paint a double garage door (after repair of dry rot damage with wood hardener and Bondo.) Can I paint over the elastomeric with other paint? What type? Our HOA requires use of the exact color they specify for all (and sell) and I don’t think I can get elastomeric mixed to the required shade (anything “off” would result in having to correct by re-painting.)

An elastomeric coating on your garage door is overkill and could cause some sticking problems. A good regular paint like Sherwin Williams Super Paint will do a great job and it can be matched to your color.
