Repairing indoor paint chipping.

share

Hi, I just moved into a home where the previous owner used oil based paint on the trim. It has chipped significantly down to the original so there is a thick chip. Would you suggest I sand the area prior to repainting to smooth the are around the chips?
Thank you so much for your help!

  1. Definitely need to sand the chipped areas smooth. It might be easier to use a palm sander, if the trim is wide and flat. After sanding make sure to prime everything, using an oil base is a good idea but most acrylic primers do a good job. That's it. After priming to can use any type of paint.
