Is it really worth the cost to do Strech Guard on a so. Ca house? Is $14,000 really reasonable for a 1400 sq/ft house with a two car garage to paint (stucco w/ wood trim).

No and no again…for a house local and descript like that… estimate 5-6000$ max…
Are you kidding me? With all do respect, $6000 is an average price for Painting with Latex based paint.
Hard to answer the question without seeing your home.
* What's the entire sq of the walls?
* What kind of shape is your stucco in?
* The price only for the walls or for the trim, soffit, fascia as well?
If you are planning to stay in your home for a while, than worth every penny.
That's all it cost is $14K. You need to take advantage of that deal.
