Wall color versus woodwork color?

I plan on painting my 8×10 living room. Seeing that the room is so small, with 2 doors and 2 windows, I want to do the walls a shade of gray and the same with the woodwork. Should I do a light color on the walls and continue that color to the ceiling and a darker gray on the woodwork or the opposite ?

Since the room you are painting is not a large room you will want to do the darker shade on your woodwork. If you put the darker shade on your walls your room will look even smaller.

For each wall, use a different lighter shade of the same color and apply to same gray color to the woodwork.
