What type of primer?

I am refinishing my garage. I have replaced some drywall. I believe the previous paint was latex…What type of primer do I use for the whole application..oil based or latex? Should I use oil based or latex paint over that?

You can use either an oil based or acrylic primer. If you have water spots or other stains use a stain blocking oil base primer. The paint can be a quality acrylic (latex), recommend a satin or semi-gloss sheen.
