Use of Primer when Stripping and restaining fiberglass door?

Michael asked 4 years ago

I’ve read lots of the Q&A but would like clarity on the use of a primer after stripping, and before using a gel stain. It seems it isn’t “necessary” but will it give a better result? ie. perhaps the gel stain will go on more consistently or stick better?…or cover some of the original stain between the grain?

I don't recommend anything but Paint for fiberglass doors… in which case 2 coats of top brand paint (acrylic) will do it…

Primer isn't needed in most cases and won't provide better results.
