Waiting Period

Amanda asked 10 years ago

We are building a house and want to know if there is any ‘waiting period’ before painting the interior walls? At what stage do you paint the primer and how long after that can you paint the walls?

You can prime the walls immediately after they are finished being installed (for drywall)… for plaster walls, you should wait 2 weeks before priming… in either case use a high grade product (acrylic primer)…

Allow primer to dry (1-2hrs) then you can finish coat, BUT it's best to wait (with new construction) until all of the woodwork is installed too (door casings, window casings mouldings and base board…

Then, finish coat the ceilings and walls, then work on the woodwork… Good Luck!
