Can I use a deglosser on my stained kitchen cabinets and restain a lighter color?

You can't get a lighter color by staining over a darker color. It will simply be a combination of the 2 colors. Too get a lighter color you will have to strip your cabinets down to bare wood and then apply the light colored wood stain.
