Re Staining Pine Doors

I stained the new pine doors I bought with a pecan stain and the finished them with a water based poly. I would like to change them to a gold oak. Do I have to sand them down to bare wood? What is the best way to restain them?

Sanding will NOT remove the previous Stain and top coating… you need to use a Paint and Varnish Remover (Stripper) follow label instructions… OR better, use a Furniture Restorer Product (easier to use)…
